Eric Owen Moss' winning design for the History Channel's challenge for Los Angeles in 2106. The History Channel will be putting this show on "Engineering Challenge."
The world class list of competitors included EDAW, DMJM, Jennifer Siegal among many others, and the jury included Thom Mayne with presentations of awards by the Mayor.
The designers were supposed to use the lessons of history to predict the future of LA. There was little use of history, appalling lack of engineering, and a lot of architects masquerading with knowledge of landscape processes, urban planning and biotechnology. However, commend the AIA once again as it takes leadership on another high profile event imagining the future like Manhattan and New Orleans. Where the hell is the ASLA and AICP?
