Writers-What are your methods about developing a character?
I really like writing and I've put together from you helpful answerers characters are crucial to learn about. Everything about them is important so, I'm wondering how do you go about doing this? I've heard of silly methods like a casting call or and audition but, I wanna hear how other writers go through this. How do I make my character come to life in my eyes?Tips, tricks, and links are appreciated and thanks!

I have a few methods.
The first one is probably the easiest. Build off of whatever you have. If you already have a background for your character, stem off of that to build up their personality or vice-versa. For example, if the character had a pet animal of some sort when they were younger, that could be their favorite animal. You can base their personality traits off of said animal.
The second one is to imagine them as a real person. It may seem kind of weird, but have a mental interview. Think of how they'd respond to a question.
